Types of Turkish Flags — Which One Do You Need?
Start Here: What Is the Flag Actually For?
"Turkish flag" is not one product. It is nine different builds, and picking the wrong one is usually a matter of fabric and mounting rather than design. A flag made for a 10-metre pole is knitted mesh that lets wind pass through; a flag made for a boardroom is double-layer satin that hangs still and opaque. Put one in the other's place and it looks wrong within a week.
Three questions settle almost every choice: indoors or outdoors, how it will be held up (pole, sleeve, cord, stick, stand), and how long it must last (one afternoon or several years). Work through the nine types below, then use the comparison table to confirm. Every type links straight to the product, and the full range sits in the Turkish Flag collection.
1. Outdoor Flag — Flagpole Display
This is the flag most people picture: a horizontal panel flown from a mast, a facade bracket or a balcony pole. It is offered in two fabrics, and the choice matters more than the size. Raschel is a 110 gsm knitted mesh — light, quick-drying, and open enough to let wind through instead of fighting it, which is why it is the standard for real poles. Alpaca is a premium double-weave with a heavier hand-feel, better suited to ceremonial and institutional display than to a windy roofline.
The size range runs from 50x75cm up to a 20x30 metre monumental banner — eighteen options in total, printed at the official 2:3 ratio in Pantone 186 C red with double-stitched reinforced hems. A useful rule when matching flag to mast: flag length should be roughly one-quarter to one-third of the pole height. A 6 m residential pole takes 150x225cm; a 10 m commercial pole takes 200x300cm.
Used on government buildings, municipal squares, stadiums, school yards, hotel facades and private balconies. → Turkish Flag — Outdoor Flag, 18 Sizes
2. Indoor Flag — Office and Ceremonial Display
An indoor flag is not a smaller outdoor flag. It is built to hang still: double-layer satin with a BSN interliner between the layers, so it stays opaque, holds a structured drape and does not cling to the pole. The standard institutional size is 100x150cm.
Complete set with pole
Flag, chrome metal pole in 220cm or 240cm height, and a velcro sleeve attachment, supplied together. Sublimation printing bonds the colour into the fibre rather than sitting on top of it. This is the default for a new embassy office, boardroom, courtroom or ceremonial hall — no extra parts needed. → Turkish Flag — Indoor Office Flag Set with Pole
Poleless flag
If you already own a stand, or the flag will go on a wall, in a frame or behind a stage as a ceremonial backdrop, buy the flag alone. Premium satin polyester with double-sided sublimation, so it reads correctly from either side — available fringed or plain, the fringe being the formal option for protocol rooms. → Turkish Flag — Poleless Indoor Flag
3. Desk Flag — Tabletop Display
Desk flags are all 15x22.5cm in double-layer satin, on a weighted metal anti-tip base, and every version comes in silver chrome or gold. What changes is how many flags sit on the base.
Single desk flag
One flag, roughly 33cm total display height. The everyday choice for an executive desk, a reception counter or a conference table. → Turkish Flag — Desk Flag with Stand
Double set — two identical flags
Two matching Turkish flags on a single two-pole base, 34cm poles on an 8cm weighted base, with hot-cut fray-resistant edges. This symmetrical twin pedestal is the standard institutional format on lecterns, signing tables and ceremony desks. Minimum order 5 units. → Turkish Flag — Double Desk Flag Set
Logo set — your flag beside the Turkish flag
One Turkish flag and one flag printed with your own logo, at equal height on a shared base — 33cm poles, 7.8cm weighted base. Send vector or 300 DPI artwork; a digital proof is prepared before production. Used at delegation visits, dealership front desks, trade fair tables and press conferences. → Logo Printed Desk Flag Set — Turkish Flag + Your Logo
4. Vertical Flag and Wall-Mount Telescoping Pole
On a narrow facade, a forecourt or a shop entrance, a horizontal flag simply does not read. The vertical format solves that.
Vertical banner flag
110 g Raschel knitted polyester in four tall formats — 50x200cm, 75x300cm, 100x300cm and 100x400cm — with a reinforced sleeve pocket at the header for direct pole or bracket mounting. Common at service stations, car dealerships, business parks and hotel facades. → Turkish Flag — Vertical Outdoor Banner Flag
Wall-mount telescoping flagpole kit
If there is no mast at all, this is the complete answer in one box: an anodized aluminium telescoping pole adjusting to 120cm or 150cm, a heavy-duty wall bracket with stainless steel screws, and a 70x105cm flag in 110 gsm knitted polyester with a sleeve pocket. Rust-proof, and installed on a balcony or facade in about ten minutes. → Turkish Flag — Wall Mount Telescoping Flagpole Kit
5. Handheld Stick Flag
The crowd flag: 90 g Raschel polyester with heat-cut edges that will not fray, pre-mounted on a plastic stick and ready to wave straight out of the box. Five sizes — 15x22.5cm, 20x30cm, 30x45cm, 40x60cm and 50x75cm — in packs of 1, 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1000 units, with a minimum order of 50 for bulk distribution. Bought for parades, rallies, national day programmes, sports events, school ceremonies and welcome lines. → Turkish Flag — Handheld Stick Flag
6. Pennant Flags — Vertical Hanging Panels
A pennant hangs vertically from a rigid top tube rather than flying from a pole. All three standard cuts share the same build: premium satin polyester, high-definition digital printing, a rigid plastic top tube with end caps that keeps the panel flat, a cord attached at both ends so it hangs straight out of the packet, and hot-cut edges. All three come in the same eight sizes, from 50x100cm to 100x300cm. Only the lower edge differs — and that is purely a matter of house style.
Swallowtail cut
The lower edge is notched inward into two symmetrical tails. The most recognisable silhouette from across a hall, and the usual choice for ceremonies and commemorations. → Turkish Flag — Swallowtail Pennant Flag
Straight cut
A clean rectangular lower edge with no notch or point. Nothing is cut away, so the crescent and star sit on the largest uninterrupted area of the three cuts — the right pick when the emblem must be fully legible. → Turkish Flag — Straight Cut Pennant Flag
Pentagonal cut
The lower edge tapers to a single central point, giving direction without the split of a swallowtail. Frequently used in rows down a corridor or a fair stand. → Turkish Flag — Pentagonal Pennant Flag
Fringed satin ceremonial pennant
A different object altogether: small, formal and made to be handed over or hung on a wall. Double-sided crystal satin, triangle-cut at the lower edge, finished with a thread fringe in gold or white, in three sizes — 15x20cm, 20x30cm and 30x45cm. Used for award ceremonies, tournaments, honour halls and council chambers. → Turkish Flag — Fringed Satin Ceremonial Pennant
7. Bunting — Decoration Strings
Bunting is sold by the length of the run, not by the flag. Each flag is 90 g Raschel polyester with heat-cut edges, sewn onto a strong polyester cord that ships with the string, so installation is nothing more than fixing the cord between two points.
50 m strings — triangle or rectangular
One continuous 50 metre run, enough for a street, a hall or a stadium concourse. Choose a flag size of 20x30cm, 30x45cm or 50x75cm. The triangle bunting is the classic festive shape; the rectangular bunting keeps each flag a full rectangle, so the crescent and star show complete rather than cropped.
8. Car Hood Flag Cover
A printed cover that pulls over a car bonnet, held by an elastic-band fastening system that fits in seconds without tools. Flexible washable fabric in three sizes — 100x150cm, 120x160cm and 160x170cm — dimensioned to fit most vehicles, and the print survives the wash. The standard fitting for wedding convoys, national day parades, club processions and fan convoys. Any flag or artwork can be printed to order. → Turkish Flag — Car Hood Flag Cover
9. Flag Textiles — Supporter Scarves
Not a flag on a pole, but the same design worn rather than flown — the standard giveaway for supporter programmes, delegations, diaspora events and commemorations. All three are premium polyester with full-colour digital printing and are fully customisable: single flag, dual flag, logo, text or calligraphy.
- Printed supporter scarf — approximately 20x140cm, the standard supporter width, in packs of 1, 10, 50, 100 and 500.
- Satin scarf — narrower and glossier at approximately 16x146cm, same pack sizes.
- Woven scarf with tasseled fringes — a soft woven weave finished with hand-tasseled fringes at both ends instead of a cut edge, for ceremonial gifts and commemorative pieces.

Still Not Sure? Four Shortcuts
- It goes outside on a mast → outdoor flag in Raschel, sized at one-quarter to one-third of the pole height.
- It goes in an office or a protocol room → indoor flag in double-layer satin; buy the complete set unless you already own a stand.
- It is for one event with a crowd → stick flags for the hands, bunting for the space.
- There is no pole and you cannot install one → the wall-mount telescoping kit, or a pennant on a cord.

Frequently Asked Questions — Turkish Flag Types
Fabric and purpose, not size. An outdoor flag is knitted Raschel mesh that lets wind pass through and dries quickly, so it survives on a mast. An indoor flag is double-layer satin with a BSN interliner, made to hang still and opaque on a floor pole in an office or ceremonial hall. Neither fabric performs well in the other's place.
As a general rule the flag length should be roughly one-quarter to one-third of the pole height. A 6 m residential pole takes 150x225cm; a 10 m commercial pole takes 200x300cm; stadium-scale poles take 300x450cm or larger. The outdoor flag is available in eighteen sizes from 50x75cm to 20x30 metres.
A pennant hangs vertically from a rigid top tube with a cord, rather than flying horizontally from a pole. It is used indoors and on facades where there is no wind, because the top tube holds the panel open and keeps the design readable. We produce three cuts — swallowtail, straight cut and pentagonal — all in the same eight sizes from 50x100cm to 100x300cm.
The build is identical; only the lower edge differs. Swallowtail splits into two symmetrical tails and is the most recognisable from a distance. Straight cut removes nothing, so the crescent and star sit on the largest uninterrupted area. Pentagonal tapers to a single central point. The choice is a matter of house style rather than performance.
Bunting is sold as a continuous run: 50 metres for streets, halls and stadium concourses, or 25 metres for a shopfront, balcony or classroom. The polyester cord is included and the flags are sewn onto it, so installation is simply fixing the cord between two points — no extra hardware.
Yes. The logo desk flag set carries your logo on one pole and the Turkish flag on the other, at equal height on a shared base. Pennants and scarves can also be produced with your logo, emblem or text. Send vector or 300 DPI artwork and a digital proof is prepared before production.
All use a 15x22.5cm flag in double-layer satin on a weighted anti-tip base, in silver chrome or gold. The single set has one flag on a 33cm pole. The double set has two identical Turkish flags on 34cm poles with an 8cm base, minimum order 5 units. The logo set pairs the Turkish flag with your own logo flag on a 7.8cm base.
For the crowd, handheld stick flags — 90 g Raschel with heat-cut edges, pre-mounted on plastic sticks, in packs from 50 to 1000 units. For the venue, bunting in 25 m or 50 m runs. For vehicle convoys, the car hood cover with its elastic fastening. For the stage or hall itself, a pennant or a poleless satin flag as a backdrop.
